Tap Toast — Shorter solution for long names.

Recently, i was working on a project for my organisation. The project was to introduce a new feature on out marketplace app. With the growing market of mobile, there is tendency of consumers to upgrade them-self with latest technology. Exchange old phone device with new device by paying minimum value, as a feature has to be added on our application. I will not go into detail, but just wanted to discuss a component feature which i think can help in one of the problem.

What — Device names are lengthy sometimes and can hamper the aesthetics of the screen and provide content load.

Why — Truncating the device name is widely used as solution. It helped me also.

Truncate device name.

But sooner i realise, that it might not give the upfront idea to ‘some’ users.

How — Tap Toast can be a good solution for the existing problem. The stats for the same has to be still proven.

The dots to signify truncate has been accent coloured to make it tappable.

On tapping the dots, toast will overlap the truncate name with full name of the device.

The toast will disappear once tapped outside or vanish within 2–3seconds.
